Suwanee Storm Damage Roof Repair
A careful look after the storm, photos of what changed and a repair sized to the real damage.
How Can You Tell If a Storm Hurt Your Roof?
Is your roof damaged if it looks fine from the driveway? Quite possibly. Hail rarely punches holes in shingles. Instead it knocks off the protective granules and bruises the layer underneath, leaving dark spots that soften and crack over the following seasons. Wind is sneakier still. A strong gust can lift a row of shingles, crease them and break the adhesive strip that holds them flat, then let them settle back down looking almost normal. The next driving rain finds the gap. So what do we check? Each slope for bruises, creases, unsealed rows and missing pieces. The vents, gutters and metal edges, because dents there reveal how big the hail was. The attic, for any fresh dampness. We photograph all of it and then sit down to explain what we saw. Limited damage means a written estimate for just those areas. If it is widespread, we talk through whether an insurance claim makes sense. Tree limbs cause trouble less often, but when one has cracked shingles or broken through, we include that too.
What Do We Look For?
The signs that tell us what a storm left behind.
Bruised shingles
Dark, soft spots where hail stripped the granules.
Creased tabs
Fold lines left by wind bending shingles upward.
Unsealed rows
Shingles that lift easily because the adhesive broke.
Missing pieces
Gaps where shingles or ridge caps blew away.
Dented metal
Vents, gutters and edges showing hail size and direction.
Attic dampness
New moisture on the underside of the roof.
Branch damage
Less frequent, but cracks or breaks from fallen limbs.
