Keeping water moving
Suwanee Gutters and Downspouts
One-piece gutters matched to the water your roof sheds, sloped to drain and ending in downspouts that carry it off.
What Happens When Gutters Fall Behind?
Have you watched rain sheet over the front of your gutters during a storm? That water has to go somewhere, and usually it lands right beside the foundation. Over time it washes out mulch, pools against the house, stains walls and works into the wood behind the gutter. Why does it happen? Gutters may be too small for the roof above, pulled loose and sagging, clogged with leaves or simply pitched the wrong way. Seamless gutters help because each long run is formed in one piece, leaving joints only at corners and outlets. We start by looking at how much roof drains to each run and choose a gutter and downspout size that can handle it. We set the slope so water moves to the outlets rather than sitting. Hangers are placed close enough to carry heavy, wet loads. Outlets get placed, and extensions added, so water lands well clear of steps, walkways and the foundation. Is it better to do gutters with a new roof? Often, yes, since the roof edge is open and new metal is going on anyway. But we are happy to replace gutters on their own, too.
